Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Launches ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ Housing Scheme
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the highly anticipated ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing scheme, designed to provide affordable homes and loans to citizens of the province.
Inaugural Ceremony
The launch event took place in Lahore, where CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of homeownership. She acknowledged that people with secure housing often fail to grasp the struggles faced by those without permanent accommodation.
Scheme Implementation
The ‘CM Punjab Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing initiative will see over 3,000 homes constructed in each district of Punjab, ensuring fair distribution of resources across the province. The project will initially focus on five major cities: Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi. In Lahore, 5,000 homes will be built near Raiwind Road during the first phase.
Government officials highlighted that this housing project is geared toward providing low and middle-income families with affordable, permanent residences.
Easy Payment Plans
Affordability is a key feature of the scheme. Each apartment is priced at Rs. 1.5 million, but with a 60% government subsidy, residents will only pay 40% of the cost. This remaining amount can be paid in manageable monthly installments of Rs. 26,000 over a five-year period, making homeownership accessible even to families with modest incomes.
Application Process
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has developed an online portal for easy application and tracking of the scheme. Citizens can register and manage their applications via acag.punjab.gov.pk. A helpline (0800-09100) has also been set up for applicants requiring assistance.

In her closing remarks, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated, “This project is not just about building houses; it’s about building futures, ensuring stability, and providing the people of Punjab with a sense of security that comes with having a place to call home.”
